The center hole gives plenty of clearance for the motor axle if needed. Note that there are only 2 holes pre-drilled and you may want to drill more for mounting with screws. I used 2 M3 rods that are screwed to the motor on one end and tightened with nuts over a 40mm fan on the other end. I recommend applying thermal paste between the Heat Sink and the motor for best performance.

These heatsinks fit perfectly on my NEMA 17 motors. I drilled 2 holes to fix them with threaded rods between 40mm fans and the motors.
