The product works as expected, quite well with respect to its cost and size. The sensitivity is good and the sound is pleasant, balanced. There are two side keys and their function could be changed, but only per PC programming. The menu has impressive 51 postions, so you can set up many things... For the airband reception you need to switch to the AM modulation in the menu and beside usual tuning steps of 2,5 / 5 / 10 / 12,5 and 25 kHz you have then access to 8,33 kHz too. Unfortunately, in contrary to other devices as Quansheng R50 or Baofeng, there are no dedicated keys to switch between channel A and B, between the memory (M) or VFO mode, as well as switching to the FM radio per one button. You have to operate the F(function key) and another button on the numeric keypad. On the other hand, per the F plus Nr. double click you have direct access to 8 more functions the producer thought, you could need - this cannot be changed and you will hardly use some half of them. In the U.S., the NOAA channel scan could be of use. The device is compatible with many other Baofeng or Quansheng antennas - you could benefit from a longer whip when operating on lower bands. The delivered antenna is semi-flexible, of a length of 17 cm. There are two different jacks on the side and, as usual, for earphones is the 2,5 mm one. The power cable is fixed to the charging base and its length is only about 80 cm. If you choose the variant with USB-C charging, you will get an A to C cable of some 25 cm and a warning that this mode is intended for emergency charging (?) only.

This tiny radio is really easy to take with everywhere. Other PROs are that you can enjoy stereo FM broadcast via earphones and that it performs above expectation on mediumwave (AM), SW as well as in the AIR band. The selectivity I would rate as acceptable, the speaker is apparently optimised for speech reproduction and performs well in quiet locations. The small antenna is well compensated by a good sensitivity (except for VHF). Further positive features are that the minimum control elements have well-thoughtout functions: there is a fast possibility to choose the AM tuning step (9/10 kHz) and to switch between shortwave broadcast bands. The display is well readable (at least the frequency numbers are comparatively large and with a 10 sec. backlight). 2 alarm clocks can be set. 50 memory places in each band seem to be a plenty of space. Also a frequency scan is possible (not in the memory mode) which stops at the first signal found or searches the band endlessly. In the AIR band the tuning step of 25 or 5 kHz is selectable, the later one performing well in the new congested channels. You can even use a squelch function on the CB and AIR bands. Unfortunately, the squelch is NOT available on VHF where it would be most desirable. Other CONTRAs are, that, of course, with the minimalist controls only step-up or step-down selection of frequency or memory channel is possible. But more seriously, the radio is also prone to overload by strong signals causing parasitic reception and sensitivity loss and so the item seems to be unusable in the VHF band. Moreover, the tuning step of my piece is 25 kHz in the VHF band, not 5 kHz as declared in the manual. And you cannot select the reception mode (FM/AM) on the CB, it is yea 25 to 28 MHz, but AM only.

chra.stec A speaker capable of 70W is o.k. for the amplifier of 50W. If amplifier power reaches or exceeds the speaker rating you get big distorton and then damage the speaker.

Q: CAN I CONNECT 2 SPEAKERS OF 3W AND 4OHMS,,,ON PARALLEL

Asked by ANGEL JUAREZ on 2018-07-10 10:22:46

chra.stec I do not reccomend this, you get 2 Ohm, more ditortion and can damage the amplifier or the speakers. Try serial connection, 8 Ohms should not matter..
