QuadCore Thereare three screws inside the unit which holding the circuit board to the backplate. Make sure these are tightened so the power transistors get proper surface area to disperse the heat.

As the title already shows, this is not a genuine iMax charger. But for what it is, it is very good. Works flawlessly without any complications. When discharging at full power the device gets very hot, but it didn't go up in flames. So that's good so far. Would buy again. Total bargain in my eyes.

QuadCore Ihad the same issue when I first used it. Later I removed the cover and noticed not all the screws holding the circuit board to the back plate (bottom cover) are tightened enough. So i tightened the screws so the power transistors get good plate connection for heat dispersion. Now it works as it should with just bit warm not hot.
