I built a usb charging port for my car. For more security I added a on/off-switch in the console and a fuse in the curcuit. Case is 3D-printed. The step down module doesn't heat up like a linear voltage regulator (eg. L7805) is doing. That's the reason why I chose this buck. It works really fine.
