Very simple and unobtrusive little device to prevent damage to the gimbal from e.g. tree branches, small stones etc. when you're landing the aircraft. If properly secured it may also be of service in case of mild crashes I estimate. The protector doesn't obstruct the view in any way, not even when pointed straight down. One caveat however: to make sure I don't lose my investment ;-) I cut a piece of velcro along the length to split it in two. Then you can use the slits on either side to secure the protector in place, otherwise it's simply clamped in place, which would easily give way in case of even minor impact.

The protector is nice and of good quality however when starting up the DJI phantom 3 the Camera/gimbal hits the protector whilst it swivels. it is a very minor obstruction but nonetheless it is not cleared. so minor alterations need to be made to ensure no obstruction occurs.

great fitting, and nice build quality. (sturdy carbon fiber) I modified it a litte bit with a saw to fit better at the end of my Phantom. The gimball sometimes touches the protector. Not ideal. And i've noticed some weird flying behavior, mabe because the aucoustic height measuring from the DJI was having trouble with it. I'm not using the protector anymore
