to start with, there are different models of the same tracker. You need to figure out which one you have got. I have noticed on black wrapping somewhere in the code AU08, which is my model. I have not tried with purely data SIM card, but I have 4G SIM with some free minutes and SMS and 500MB of data. Apparently, after configurating the tracker via few SMS, it used even GPRS (data) to get even more functions. Tere are SMS commands to query model, version and current setup. That may save some time, if you start with them. Send SMS to get model, version, SN#, battery status, cloud setup: CXZT Send SMS to get all setup and status: RCONF It is even voice sensitive, and can issue various alarms: voice, shaking, engine start, moving, over-speed, leaving geo-fenced circular area, disconnected from power. It has very gut GPS sensitivity and accuracy. So it is very good value fro money. I have not got point of "KY" and "DY" instructions, which cuts or restore petrol flow or power to the engine, but it is not connected to car CAN bus (OBDII).
