It is a shame that the lamp was headlined as 30 watts, which is why I bought it. It confirms on the box that it is 5 watts! It is more versatile than described as it has a 5 watt main beam that has a dim setting, the ring around the outside lights up at probably 5 watts for more of a flood light and then there is a flashing red/blue light. You need to buy 2 18650 cells to power it but they can be charged by connecting it to a micro USB port. There is a 4 stage led that show the battery state and charging. It can also power a usb device like a phone. Overall, it is a good handy lamp but not 30 watts.
