This is a good project for a beginner, but soldering 50 LEDs is tedious. Make sure to use a low wattage soldering iron or you'll kill some LEDs because the plastic will melt. My kit came with 2 extras. Skip the IC socket, solder the IC directly. If you kink one of the IC pins in the socket, it's history. If the kit fails, just buy a new one instead of trying to get a replacement IC ... There is a major flaw: The intensity of the LED colors is uneven. The blue is very bright, the red is kind of dim. Two solutions to equalize the colors: (1) place a orange (or yellow) cellophane (or plastic) sheet in front as a filter, or (2) lower the Vcc (not battery) voltage to 4.0V. The cellophane sheet works great, lowering the voltage not quite as good. Another solution; change the resistors to 1.5K or even 2.2K, but this is lots of work.

Ottimo gadget natalizio. Facile da assemblare e di grande impatto visivo. La luminosità dei led è notevole,dunque ben visibili anche in ambienti ben illuminati.
