Item comes with instruction not in English but has pictures. I was worried I was going to break them in my attempt to take apart to put on spokes. The button i accidentally figurred out after opening and touched the battery. It is activated by pushing on one side or the other of the circular part. Difficulty there is it is not a button really and takes some force to push it hard enough to come on. Enough force that my 9 year old could not do it on his own.
