This is a really excellent display product for RPi The use of HDMI for the video means that the display does not require special SPI drivers and, as HDMI is the default RPi display mode, it works right out of the box. The touch-screen drivers are easy too once you sort out what interface it is using. Yes, the only manual available is in Chinese but the screens are in English and you can easily work out what it is telling you. I have tried many Rpi touch screens and this is the best 5 inch on the market. I will be purchasing more for sure. What we want now is an enclosure to match...

I chose this display because it has good resolution for it's size. 5 inch in my opinion is more than enough to view items, pictures, movies and control/configure the pi, while keeping things reasonably sized and portable. The setup was quite easy and everything works smoothly. I highly recommend it!

The screen works fine, acceptable performance and overall good price/quality compromise. I does turn on with latest raspbian but needs several tweaks to work: 1) you need to manually edit the config.txt with all suggested changes 2) Open the linked page (http://www.raspberrypiwiki.com/index.php/5_inch_HDMI_TFT_LCD_Touch_Screen_SKU:384212) and read the content 2B) Open then the link "How to use LCD driver": http://www.raspberrypiwiki.com/index.php/How_to_use_LCD_driver 3) download the driver and add the rows contained in ./boot/config-5.txt (or sudo cp -rf ./boot/config-5.txt /boot/config.txt to replace old config.txt with that one using terminal) DO NOT FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE ON THE PAGE BECAUSE IT WILL CREATE ISSUES WITH KERNEL (at least this is what happened to me) 4) reboot 5) at this point follow the calibration steps here http://www.raspberrypiwiki.com/index.php/Touchscreen_calibration should work now

Hard to get to work properly. Mine has a black field like described in a lot of videos and on page. Have tried to install compiled raspbian from vendor but that does not work for me. But I haven't gotten any compiled images to work so that might be me. I haven't even gotten the touch to function. This is stage 2 ninja skills hard. But I like what parts is working. I would like to know if I can get it to work in 800x480 touch and have my TV in 1080p hdmi. That would be a dream and 5 stars. Better manual.

I am not using as a touch screen, purely as a normal screen. Had a few problems configuring the RPi config.txt file but eventually used the adafruit settings and changed the config file to include # uncomment if hdmi display is not detected and composite is being output hdmi_force_hotplug=1 # uncomment to force a specific HDMI mode (here we are forcing 800x480!) hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=1 hdmi_mode=87 hdmi_cvt=800 480 60 6 0 0 0 max_usb_current=1 After that it worked very well indeed as part of a radio communications interface.
